About the Event

All are welcome to the Merkaba Heart New Moon in Cancer Intentional Drum Meditation in NE Portland.

This will be our 2nd intentional drum circle and we are very excited. We received some wonderful feedback after our first event and are super inspired to continue with more drumming, more intentions and more meditations.

Cancer is the first water sign of the zodiac. She is a feminine sign and a cardinal sign marking the beginning of the summer season here in the northern hemisphere.

Cancer energies are those associated with home, nurturing, mother, personal emotions, intimacy, vulnerability, self-protection, feelings of rejection, possessiveness, insecurity, caring for others, being taken care of by others, accepting support and being supportive, empathy, awareness of feelings, feelings of belonging, and security.

The symbol of Cancer is the crab – a very soft, tender animal who is covered and protected by a hard shell. When not feeling safe, we can develop and retreat into a hard shell. If we show tenderness and emotional vulnerability that is not met by others, not supported, and not cared for, we can hide in those shells and refuse to come out. Just as we all have feminine and masculine energies and qualities within us, we each are comprised of all the energies of the signs of the zodiac. Somewhere in your experience, these Cancer energies are especially prevalent. To best work with these during the New Moon in Cancer, ask yourself:

* How do you feel emotionally protected, vulnerable, held?

* Do you feel safe sharing your emotions?

* Do you have people in your life who support your emotions and provide a feeling of home, security, and stability?

* How do you create this for yourself?

* How do you nurture yourself and create safe space to express your emotions?

* How do you get in touch with your emotions, so as not to get stuck in a shell of hardness and resentment?

* How can you nurture your own mothering qualities for yourself and for your loved ones?

* How can you support others to feel safe in their vulnerabilities and in expressing their own emotions?

These are but a few of the questions we can dive into and ponder for ourselves during Cancer season. If we lack that feeling of home, of mother, of connection, and of safety to be ourselves, we must work to create it for ourselves – and find people that will support us on our journey.

Come join our New Moon Drum Circle where we will be utilizing the powerful lunar energies of Cancer to set intention, to release emotional burdens and to open up to the nourishing, loving, mothering energies of the Goddess and of our beautiful Earth. Embrace a new human experience that supports emotional vulnerability and authenticity – for both feminine and masculine energies.

Please keep in mind, this is not a free for all drum jam; this will be an organized drumming circle with set intentions led with easy to follow rhythms and beats. The idea is to connect to each other, the group and the earth through synchronized drumming. There will be some time set aside for some free drumming closer the end of the event.

No experience necessary and all skill levels are welcome.

Bring your drums, rattles, good vibes and open minds. We look forward to meeting you and sharing a wonderful evening of drumming, meditation and magick.

Event location will be emailed out to all who RSVP.

You may want to bring blankets and folding chairs to sit on - whatever you need to be comfortable! And an FYI - we do not have instruments to lend out, so please bring your own, or even clap with your hands or feel free to just come and watch! Or - if you have extra instruments to lend out, please mention it in the comments. Thanks all!

See you there! ~ Asante and Saidi
